and yes! I will soon actually perform for the second time in my life singing, whistling and playing the acoustic guitar in early September... my tunes too, though surprisingly they're not jazz... they're a bit political (as one of my friends says) or just simply about life... I will perform some well known rock covers as well as a few beautiful Irish traditionals. for real. break a leg!

anyway, here below are all the details!!

thanks for reading and hope to see you sometime soon.

happy summer!

peace, eva

solo concert at IBeam and upcoming concerts!

here are a few concerts I'd like to let you know about... first of all I'm performing a solo concert this coming saturday... me & myself at the piano... yes, where? iBeam in Brooklyn, when? 8pm, why? guess what... because it's summer!!... and I will be bringing my Chinese gongs with me really hoping to see some friendly faces during the early set... if you'd like to see me whispering to my gongs now and then and doing what I most love to do: playing the piano... you may even hear me whistle... ...

I am currently writing new music which I will also play in a special solo set up this time, for your ears only... and Randy Thaler's ears too, as he is going to be recording both sets.

I will be curating the night at iBeam. Kenneth Jiménez Trio will play the second set... Kenneth plays the bass and writes cool music. he is bringing a great band. here are further details and other interesting concerts of mine that I am excited about in the coming weeks and months... music, music, music... isn't that why we are ALL here?!

:: Ditmas Quartet ::
Ditmas Quartet was formed in 2013 in Brooklyn and is a collaboration between pianist Eva Novoa, saxophonist Michaël Attias, bassist Max Johnson & drummer Jeff Davis. This quartet experiments with diverse sounds and textures. The band members play mostly their own original compositions giving lots of freedom in the performance making each performance different and unique. It is an organic ensemble where each member participates and contributes equally to the repertoire and improvisations with a colourful approach and powerful sound. Ditmas Quartet recorded their first album "Butterflies and Zebras" at Sear Sound studio in New York in May 2015 and it was released on the label Fresh Sound New Talent in January 2016. This album got a four star **** review on DownBeat Magazine's August issue in 2016.

The band has recently recorded their second album Live at IBeam back in late July 2016. This album is soon to be released later this year also on Fresh Sound New Talent. For this album Eva Novoa wrote all brand new compositions. It is her fifth album as a leader.

Expect melodic themes and unisons, catchy rhythms and grooves, Jazz and also cooking swing at some point. You don't want to miss this very special setting! Michaël Attias - Alto Saxophone; Eva Novoa - Piano; Max Johnson - Bass; Jeff Davis - Drums.

Come on down! & support live music.
